Distribution Group
An email address that delivers to a list of recipients — send to team@company.com and everyone in the group receives it.
A distribution group is an email address that forwards to a list of people — send one message to team@yourdomain.com and everyone in the group receives it. It's the standard way to reach a team, department, or role without maintaining the membership by hand in every message.
Distribution groups are closely related to permission groups, and both benefit from the same discipline: consistent, intuitive naming, and membership organized around roles rather than improvised case by case. Well-named groups are ones people actually keep up to date.
Thinking in groups — for email distribution and for permissions alike — is part of shifting from managing individuals to managing roles, which is what keeps an organization manageable as it grows and as people come and go.
