Apple Business

Also known as: Apple Business Manager, ABM

Apple's free platform for managed Apple IDs, zero-touch device enrollment, and corporate app purchasing on your own domain.

Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager) is Apple's free platform for organizations to manage Apple devices, identities, and apps at scale. It provides managed Apple IDs on your own domain, automated device enrollment, volume app purchasing, and — in its current form — a built-in MDM, while also integrating with third-party MDMs like JumpCloud, Jamf, Intune, and others.

Setting it up takes only minutes of hands-on time, though verification can take days to a few weeks, and it requires a DUNS number, which most organizations already have. If you use Apple devices at work, this is the foundation you build management on — and verifying your domain through it prevents people from creating Apple IDs on your domain that you can't control.

The strong recommendation is to set it up from the very beginning. Doing so doesn't obligate you to use every feature; it simply prevents the small, convenient, wrong decisions — like an app tied to someone's personal Apple ID — that become painful and costly to unwind later.
